Over time, the brothers realized their craft was becoming something more than weekend projects. After attending events, markets, and gatherings, they saw a clear need: people were searching for home pieces that were not just built—but felt. Pieces created with intention. Pieces crafted through connection, patience, and respect for the material.
They saw that many homes were filled with mass-produced furniture made without thought, without story, and without soul. In contrast, Mike and Mitchell believed that wood deserves to be sourced ethically, handled responsibly, and shaped with presence. And so, a business grew naturally from a shared purpose: to create meaningful works that honor both the craft and the people who invite these pieces into their homes.
Meaning & Mindfulness.
For the brothers, woodworking is more than a process—it’s a practice. In the quiet rhythm of cutting, shaping, and finishing, they feel a connection to something larger than themselves. There’s a sense of being part of a lineage—of makers, farmers, and craftsmen—stretching back through the generations. There’s a grounding energy in every grain of hardwood, a reminder that this material once stood rooted in the earth, shaped by time, wind, and the universe itself.
Each piece becomes a collaboration between the craftsman and the wood. A conversation. A moment to slow down and listen.
In that space, the work feels sacred—
a small way of honoring the natural world, the people who came before, and the stories yet to be built upon the finished piece.
It’s not just a name …
The name came as naturally as the craft itself. Mitchell had proudly worn a beard for years, and eventually Mike joined the “bearded club.” As they tossed around ideas for a business name, Bearded Bevel came out almost as a joke—but it stuck instantly.
It captured their personality, their brotherhood, and their craft. A bevel is a detail that transforms something plain into something refined—just like the work they strive to create. Paired with the beards that had become their trademark look, the name fit perfectly. The logo emerged soon after, and Bearded Bevel was born.
Know where you come from, to see where you are going.
From the very beginning, the brothers shared a simple hope: that every piece they create becomes more than furniture. They want owners to feel connected, grounded, and part of the story behind the wood. They want their work to stay in families—to be kept, cherished, and passed down through generations. A table that hosts a lifetime of meals. A shelf that holds memories. A piece that becomes part of a home’s soul.
Their vision is to build heirloom works that last—not just in form, but in meaning.
